Effect of oxytocin nasal spray on auditory automatic discrimination measured by mismatch negativity

چکیده
As a treatment for cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia, oxytocin nasal sprays potentially improve social cognition, facial expression recognition, and sense of smell. Mismatch negativity (MMN) is an event-related potential (ERP) reflecting auditory discrimination while MMN deficits reflect function decline schizophrenia. To determine whether spray affects We measured ERPs healthy subjects during oddball task, both before after administration. Forty were randomly assigned to either the or placebo group. recorded task all 24 international unit (IU) intranasal administration, was compared between two groups. Participants who received had significantly shorter latencies than those placebo. Oxytocin no significant effect on Change amplitude. The shortened that observed administration suggest may promote comparison-decision stage.

Unconscious learning of auditory discrimination using mismatch negativity (MMN) neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a strong direct training method for brain function, wherein brain activity patterns are measured and displayed as feedback, and trainees try to stabilize the feedback signal onto certain desirable states to regulate their own mental states. Here, we introduce a novel neurofeedback method, using the mismatch negativity (MMN) responses elicited by similar sounds that cannot be co...
متن کاملEffect of EEG Referencing Methods on Auditory Mismatch Negativity
Auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) have consistently been used in the investigation of auditory and cognitive processing in the research and clinical laboratories. There is currently no consensus on the choice of appropriate reference for auditory ERPs. The most commonly used references in auditory ERP research are the mathematically linked-mastoids (LM) and average referencing (AVG). Sin...
متن کاملEffect of gender on the mismatch negativity auditory evoked potential.
Mismatch negativity (MMN) was measured on normal-hearing young adult women and men to determine the effect of gender on this auditory evoked potential (AEP). In the experimental condition, recordings were obtained for 1000-Hz tone bursts presented at 75 dB nHL (standard stimuli) and 60 dB nHL (deviant stimuli). AEPs also were obtained in a control condition in which all stimuli were presented a...
متن کاملLow-level neural auditory discrimination dysfunctions in specific language impairment—A review on mismatch negativity findings
In specific language impairment (SLI), there is a delay in the child's oral language skills when compared with nonverbal cognitive abilities. The problems typically relate to phonological and morphological processing and word learning. This article reviews studies which have used mismatch negativity (MMN) in investigating low-level neural auditory dysfunctions in this disorder. With MMN, it is ...
متن کاملProperties of Auditory Temporal Integration Revealed by Mismatch Negativity
The mismatch negativity (MMN), a component of event–related potentials (ERP), was recorded to investigate the properties of the storage of auditory temporal sequences in the sensory memory. First, the MMN elicited by the infrequent change in a pair of closely spaced tones was evaluated. In ignored condition, it was shown that the MMN was elicited only when the total duration of the tone pair wa...
